
I love this article. Barbara Iweins has photographed each and every thing in her home and Oscar Holland of CNN discusses her images in a recent article (“A Photographer Cataloged All 12, 795 Items in Her House. This is What She Found,” 2022, https://www.cnn.com/style/article/barbara-iweins-photo-series-katalog-arles/index.html).
Iweins’ project is fascinating for a number of reasons. For example, it’s a case study of how people choose to represent who they are through the environments they control (although only 1% of the items photo’ed were identified as being of sentimental value. Also, in line with mountains of colour research, blue is the dominant colour in Iweins’ home, this is not surprising because worldwide, people are more likely to select blue as their favourite colour than select any of the alternatives.
