Guide People Through a Space

Warm colour at the end of a corridor long space

Like moths drawn toward flames, humans approach warm colours.  If you want someone to move across a space in a particular way, paint the wall behind the desired final destination a warm colour.  Have a long hall you want people to travel down without dawdling?  Use a warm colour on the wall at the end of that hall.

As we’re Earth creatures, we feel most comfortable when the darkest colour in a space is under our feet, the lightest colour is over our heads, and intermediary colours are used on the walls.  If you put a light colour on the ground, people will scoot briskly across it to areas with darker flooring or rugs, as if they are taking shelter on islands.
