Sometimes, what we really want more than anything from design is for it to help us decompress at the end of a long day or to provide the burst of energy we need to endure another marathon laundry session.
When we look at colours that are not very saturated but relatively bright, say a sage green with lots of white mixed into it, we’re relaxed. Seeing colours that are saturated but darker, such as Kelly green, is energizing.
Kelly green or sapphire blue or pumpkin orange or any similar colours are good options for spaces such as laundry zones where fast action is a plus—unless you’re one of the few people who actually likes doing laundry.
That sage green mentioned earlier, along with similar colours such as dusky light blues and slightly smoky peaches are great for spaces where you’d like to relax, such as a den or private retreat. They’re also good shades for spaces where you’d like to meditate.
